Two Years of Steamcast
Posted by Sam on August 27, 2011 – 4:56 PM
Although the second birthday of Steamcast was over a month ago (our first episode was released on 7th June 2009), I felt that I should write this post to show how much we appreciate what our fans have done for us.
The most important thing to us, more than anything else, is our listeners, fans and supporters. Over the past two years it has become more than evident that we have been blessed with most amazing fans, from all corners of the world, listening in every week. You guys and girls are the coolest, kindest and most supportive group of people in the world. It is always incredibly heart-warming when we receive a message from a fan saying that they liked this episode or that episode, or that we are doing a great job. It means the world to us, and it is what keeps us going week after week. It might seem easy to say how much we love our fans, but we really do. We have had an awful lot of bumps and faults over the past two years, and everyone has been there to support us through every single one of them. When we miss recordings, you are understanding of why. When we are late to recordings, you are patient. When we release a bad episode, you see the best in it. It is amazing how awesome you guys and girls are, and we are so, so lucky for it. We hope that we have shown and will always show our continuing appreciation for each and every one of our fans.
While we have the most awesome fans in the world, we have also been incredibly lucky to have the most awesome hosts in the world. Saurabh and Brad are, without a shadow of a doubt, two incredible people to podcast with. They are also incredible friends that I, personally, treasure an awful lot. Steamcast, and everything that has come out of it, would be nowhere near the same if it were not for these two fine gentlemen and the work they put in to it.
Saurabh works tirelessly week after week editing each and every podcast episode, even down to removing every “um” and “uh” from the recordings, and always produces top-quality episodes. He has also extended his efforts into producing a new Steamcast series, ‘Steamcast Play’, adding to what is already a seemingly overwhelming amount of work. Along with his humour and you-should-be-on-the-radio voice, he is the engine behind this machine, and I nor the fans could not be more thankful for it.
If Saurabh is the engine, then Brad is the fuel. Every week Brad treats all of us, hosts included, with an incredible grasp of what we talk about. He provides us with an extremely intelligent and passionate perspective on all things, and really puts the fine quality in the discussions we have. Every week fans, including ourselves, closely anticipate and greatly admire what Brad has to say about any subject we may cover.
I sometimes question how lucky we as hosts have been to have the most amazing fans in the world; and also question how lucky the fans and I have been to have the most amazing hosts in the world driving Steamcast to new heights week after week. It has been such a journey, and at times an emotional roller coaster, as we try to do the best for our fans every week – and I, on behalf of Saurabh and Brad, are thankful for every second of it. It is not always easy to be confident about what we do, hearing our own voices streaming out to the internet, but we always try to do our best, because we feel that our fans deserve only the best from us, for what they have done for us. And we hope that we do.
Thank you for everything that everyone has done for us.
